About
Samir is presently working as a faculty fellow at Azim Premji University (APU), India. Before joining APU, he spent one and half years in NIAS, India as a Post Doctoral Associate; and four and half years at IIT Kanpur as a PhD student. His broad research interest revolves around language and cognition. He has published several articles in various national and international journals, which include International Journal of Dravidian Linguistics, SKASE Journal of Theoretical Linguistics, South Asian Language Review, California Linguistic Notes, Journal of Indian Linguistics, ICLA Book Review, Canadian Journal of Linguistics, Current Science etc. His English translation of a Sanskrit manuscript of 8th AD, belonging to the non-Paninian Buddhist grammatical tradition, is published by ISDL, Trivandrum with a subvention from West Bengal Government. He has presented his research findings on various occasions at Indian Statistical Institute (Kolkata), P.S. Telegu University (Warangle), International School of Dravidian Linguistics (Trivandrum), Benaras Hindu University (Varanasi), Jawaharlal Neheru University (New Delhi), Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (Kolkata), Center for Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences (Allahabad), Indian Institute of Technology (Kanpur), and National Institute of Advanced Studies (Bangalore). He has been GRADEAST visiting fellow in the year of 2008. During the period of fellowship he worked with eminent scholars in Europe and delivered a talk on Language and Time at University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
